HOUSTEX 2015 PREVIEW
in-line gaging tasks which might have used expensive custom hard gages with single-point air gages or LVDTs. P20 can be used for fast capture of discrete point data, with the stiff lightweight structure of Equator allowing very short cycle times and high repeatability on simple touch-point measurements. Toolholding System New version of the secuRgrip anti- pullout toolholding system can be used in any ER collet system. The system’s patented design provides a solid con- nection for high-productivity machining operations. After the insert is placed into a tool’s standard Weldon end mill fl at, screwing the tool into a collet
that has a matching internal diameter profi le securely locks the two together. The system works with standard carbide or HSS end mills 0.5–0.75" (12.7–19 mm) in diameter, and provides TIR of 0.0004" (0.01 mm) or better. A backscrew enables presetting of tool length, and the hardened steel locking inserts are size-specifi c per diameter. REGO-FIX

Five-Axis Machining Thanks to a newly developed rotary tilting table design, the Mikron HEM 500U fi ve-axis machining center provides high- performance, high-value fi ve-side machining of components in a single setup. Suitable for cutting parts from aluminum al- loys and steel, it features a dynamic 12,000-rpm, ISO-B40 spindle and 30-tool magazine that provides a two-second chip-to-chip time for high-speed continu- ous milling operations. A 20,000-rpm spindle and 60-tool changer are
available. Its 500-mm-diam trunnion table accommodates workpiece weights up to 198 kg. tilts +65/-110° in B axis and rotates 360° in C for 3 + 2 machining as well as fi ve-side positioning. Axis travels in X, Y and Z measure 500, 450, and 399 mm, respectively. GF Machining Solutions Ph: 800-282-1336 Web site:
