In aerospace, 3D printing is seen as an alternate way to produce parts with complex grooves and shapes among other challenges. It’s also being explored as a way to reduce waste from milling and other traditional manufac- turing methods that cut away metals. NASA says 3D printing will help in long- term space missions, such as planned missions to Mars, so that tools and parts can be produced in space. neering program has been designated as one of a select number of universities nationwide to be invited to participate in the Ford College Alliance. This new initia- tive is managed by the Ford Motor Co. Fund and supports the company’s US- based Premier and Standard Recruiting colleges and universities. In addition to internship and job opportunities provided as a Premier Recruiting school, the Ford College Alliance allows CMU students to benefit from vehicle team support and $25,000 in scholarship money.
