THE LONG TRADITION OF HARLEY-DAVIDSON®
POLICE
MOTORCYCLES CONTINUES WITH THE 2015 LINE, BOASTING COM- PETITIVE PERFORMANCE AND INDUSTRY-LEADING VALUE. The Harley-Davidson name is synony-
mous with police motorcycles. For over 106 years, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company has been producing police motorcycles ever since departments first began using them. It isn’t difficult to see why: Harley-Davidson®
police motorcycles
provide value and performance. The 2015 Harley-Davidson®

motorcycles retain their value throughout their life cycle.

translates into a 6 percent increase in horsepower and a 4 percent increase in torque over previous models, all adding up to better passing power. With com- petitive zero to 70 mph acceleration, the 2015 models fit the needs of modern police motorcycle fleets. “We need the ability to get up to

“ We need the ability to get up to speed quickly,” says Officer Steve Ritchey, Lead Motorcycle Instructor for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, which employs 140 motorcycle cops who collectively ride over 1.8 million miles every year. Officer Ritchey is a 22-year veteran of the force and a 19-year veteran of the motorcycle unit. His agency has been using Harley-Davidson®
motorcycles since 1998.
LOW COST OF OWNERSHIP “Value” is a word that continues to rise in importance within the law enforcement community. In the era of “do more with less,” it’s hard to justify large expenses that don’t come with an equally measurable value. The 2015 Harley-Davidson®
police
motorcycles provide maximum value for agencies, with one of the lowest initial purchase costs for police motorcycles along with the lowest ongoing mainte- nance cost in the industry, which help

motorcycles since 1998. “The faster I can catch up to a vio-
lator, the less time I spend at higher speeds,” he said. “This lowers the chances of a car crossing in front of me or popping out of a hidden driveway. Speed also goes hand-in-hand with the
police
motorcycles offer a responsive, agile ride. They feature a 29-degree steer- ing head angle and a changeover to a lighter open-concept wheel. As with previous models, the 2015 also boasts deep lean angles and a low center of gravity for unparalleled control on the road.
ELITE STOPPING POWER The 2014 model introduced the Reflex™ Linked Brake System with ABS, which electronically links front and rear brakes when traveling over 25 mph for better stopping effort, and unlinking them at slower speeds to allow for more control and refined maneuvering. The Anti-Lock Brake System is standard on FL models. “Officers are doing so much more
than just riding,” Ritchey says. “It’s good to know that the bike will stop when you need it to.”
EXPANDED HAND CONTROLS The hand control system was rede- signed with the 2014 models and fea- tures speed capture, cruise control and push-to-talk all with one-touch buttons. The emergency lights can all be controlled independently. Stealth mode even allows all exterior lights (except instruments and brakes) to be turned off in order to preserve the element of surprise.
BETTER VISIBILITY TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD Both 2015 models feature powerful lights to help officers better observe
braking system, so if someone does pull out in front of me, I can safely adjust my speed and go around them.”
