SALT LAKE 1
O
NE HUNDRED YEARS AGO this year, the Salt Lake County Sheriff Office began using motorcycles in the effort to efficiently enforce traffic laws – as use of the auto- mobile exploded in the early 20th century.
On Thursday, January 29, current Salt Lake County
Sheriff Jim Winder noted the 100th anniversary of using now-iconic Harley-Davidson®
crime; while taking delivery of 16 of the latest Harley- Davidson®
brand motorcycles in fighting motorcycles equipped with the law-enforcement
enhancements and equipment. For enjoyment and contrast, a 1915 Harley-Davidson®

model has been fully restored to commemorate the anni- versary and was publicly unveiled at the event. “Our long relationship with law enforcement really
means a lot to us, and we’re excited to be able to celebrate this meaningful anniversary with the Sheriff’s depart- ment,” said Joe Timmons, owner of Intermountain Harley- Davidson®
Dealers. “It will be fun to show off the 1915
vintage bike and compare it to today’s high-technology police motorcycles.” The brief event started at 9:00 a.m. at Harley-Davidson® of Salt Lake City at 2928 South State Street.
