KIMMIE MEISSNER

with Keats

“I have a 2-year-old Australian shepherd named Keats, after my favorite poet, John Keats. When I was 6 years old I watched a “Dogs 101” show on Aussies and was hooked. Finally the day came that Keats came into my life. He has been everything and more. We do everything together. Some fun facts about my little man: He loves when you sing to him. I serenade him daily, mostly including a long list of Disney tunes and ’90s songs. When he gets out of the bath, you have to wrap him up like a burrito in his green blanket. Otherwise, he gives you all the sass there is. He is constantly by my side and there really is no such thing as alone time anymore (I don’t mind one bit). Keats also has an Instagram account, because he’s a model and I’m one of those crazy dog ladies, apparently. As you can see, Keats has really become a huge part of my life and I am thankful for him every single day!”

with Gracie “This is my dog Gracie and she is a Chihuahua-bichon mix. This picture of us was taken the fi rst day we brought her home, and she currently is a 13-year-old bundle of fun. She loves to play fetch (but only with dog bones) and go for walks around the block. Even though she is 13, she still has the same energy as she did the day we brought her home as a puppy. She is our little princess; I couldn’t love her more!”

KAITLIN HAWAYEK with Sophie

“I have a new puppy named Sophie. She’s only 6 months old and she is a miniature goldendoodle. She has endless energy and loves to play with my parents, my brother and my other dog, Zoey. She is obsessed with cheddar popcorn too, and if my brother opens a bag of it, she’ll go crazy and start running around the house just from the smell of it. I love being able to go home to Buffalo, because it means I get to see my fam- ily AND my doggies!”

“I have a Pomeranian Mal- tese dog named Coconut. His name comes from the American Girl doll dog that he looks exactly like. He has adorable habits of begging for belly scratches and running with his back end leaning to one side. My family calls this his puppy trot. He also has an annoy- ing habit of pretending he does not like our adopted cat, Casper, even though they are best friends. Co- conut is very smart and I have taught him how to play dead, roll over and jump into my arms. He was an ideal childhood pet and a girl’s best friend.”
