CURRENT, FORMER
TEAM USA
We love our pets and all of their adorable mannerisms and idiosyncrasies. Jingle her leash and she’ll burst
into a room and pull you out the front door for her morning walk at the dog park. An ambulance siren evokes a howl that is both funny and annoying at the same time. It’s dinnertime, which means there’s someone begging at your feet for a chance to taste the pot roast. For our feline friends, it doesn’t get much better than sitting on a windowsill and watching the neighbor kids play outside, unless you give them a ball of yarn.
T eir unconditional love for us makes pets undeniably part of the fami- ly. When they get sick and need medical attention, it’s not uncommon for us to drop several hundred dollars at the veterinarian’s. Flying across the country, our furry friends oftentimes get a ticket to make the trip with us. We shower them with toys, treats and cuddle up with them on the couch whenever we can. We talk about them at the offi ce as if they are our children — which in many ways they are. Yes, no doubt about it, we love our
pets. Former and current members of
Team USA enjoy that special bond with their pets and share their photos and descriptions with SKATING magazine. Enjoy!

MAIA & ALEX SHIBUTANI
with Lily and Po “We have two Maltese dogs — Lily and Po. When our grandmother moved to Ann Arbor, we got Po. Po was named after the character in Kung Fu Panda and has the most soulful eyes and quiet intelligence. Lily is like a happy fl ower. She is a playful puppy at heart who can’t seem to understand why Po is always so serious. Although she isn’ t necessarily the best listener, she is the sweetest dog who licks anyone around her. They are the perfect duo and we love coming home to them after a long day at the rink!”

with Touille “I have a 1-year-old puppy named Touille, short for Rata- touille. She was born at the hu- mane society and I rescued her when she was about 8 weeks old. When she’s not going on a car ride or hiking, Touille loves to cuddle and nap. She has a great personality and the sweetest disposition. I’m so lucky to have her in my life and can’t wait to have more adven- tures with her!”
