TARAH KAYNE & DANNY O’SHEA

with Snow

“Our rambunctious puppy is named Snow, for Tar- ah’s love of falling snow and our love of “Game of Thrones.” She is a goldendoodle puppy and she was born on St. Patrick’s Day (perfect for Danny’s Irish heritage). She loves getting into trouble, play- ing, chewing on everything she shouldn’t, and she even enjoyed her short time on the ice when we snuck her into the rink!”

MADISON HUBBELL

with Nova

“This year I got my fi rst puppy, a Pomerani- an Husky mix. She is a superstar, which is why her name is Nova. She is full of energy like a Husky, and she barks all the time like a Pomeranian. She loves to eat my socks, especially after I have skated in them and they are extra smelly. She knows a few tricks, like high-fi ve, rolling over, and she can even walk in and out of my legs. She is too smart, though, and will only do it when I have a treat for her. To see all of her attitude, you can fi nd her on Instagram, @splashmadison or @supernovahd”

GRANT

HOCHSTEIN

with Kingston “Kingston is a rescue dog from the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society. I ad- opted him when he was 6 months old and he was one of the world’s biggest scaredy- cats. Six years lat- er, not much has changed. He likes to hide under my bed, run away from strangers and sit on the top of my couch like a cat. Kingston may have a unique personality, but he has so much love to give. I always recommend that people adopt their pets from shelters.”

RACHAEL FLATT

with Ethel, Fred and Ricky “We have three dogs named Ethel (11 years old), Fred (7) and Ricky (almost 2), like the characters from the TV show ‘I Love Lucy.’ We got our fi rst Old English sheepdog, Lucy, when I was 8, and we started the trend of naming our dogs after characters from a TV show with her. Because they are fairly unusual dogs and they look like fl uffy teddy bears, they always receive a lot of attention. In fact, they are big celebrities around our neighborhood and local dog park. Our youngest, Ricky, absolutely loves it and will do anything to get a puppy treat. Fred is a mama’s boy and dotes on my mom. He’s our protector, and his favorite spot in the house is in our kitchen with his head propped up on the windowsill to survey the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Ethel has not lost her appetite for fi ne food. She loves her meat and veggies, but her favorite is Parmigiano-Reggiano. My favorite story about her was when my dad had taken her along for a car ride to Whole Foods and quickly stopped in the rink to buy lesson tickets while she was left in the car with the food. When my dad and I walked out to the car, not even two minutes later, we discovered she had devoured almost a half a block of good Parmi- giano-Reggiano. From the way the cheese crumbled, it looked like it had snowed in the car and that she was frothing at the mouth. Needless to say, she had some indigestion for a day or two, but fortunately, she was OK. They are all such lovable goofballs, and they’ve been a wonderful addition to our family. ”
