MARC Heads West
Amtrak operated a special move to transport four MARC commuter rail coaches to the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colo. The Maryland agency has ordered new SC-44 Charger diesels from Siemens, which will undergo testing at the AAR facility.

SEPTA Silverliner V Fleet Sidelined
On July 3, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority identified a defect with its Silverliner V Regional Rail cars. Some 120 Hyundai Rotem-built Silverliner Vs, received
between 2010 and 2013, or about a third of the total fleet, were pulled from service pending repairs. Starting July 5, SEPTA’s capacity for weekday travel was reduced to modified Saturday schedules usually used during weather emergencies, along with added rush hour trips at 30-minute intervals.
