S hl retailers with the opportunity to further service technician development. Progression through the program involves three stages of training: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each stage is designed to increase the technician’s level of knowledge.


Technicians must pass an exam based on the content of each training level before advancing. Bronze service training is available online, allowing the technician to complete the course work and tes ng at their own pace. Silver training and tes ng are completed at a regional training session, while Gold requires a endance at STIHL Incorporated’s manufacturing and training facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Before being accepted to a end Gold level training, an applicant must complete the Bronze and Silver levels, and the applicant and retailer (Northeast Rural Services) must both qualify for par cipa on in the program.


Gold level curriculum includes service training related to prac cal failure analysis, product troubleshoo ng and repair, spark control systems, and fuel system design and troubleshoo ng. The Gold level exam includes actual product troubleshoo ng, a hands-on exam, and a wri en exam.


What does this mean for STIHL product owners in this area? The highest standard of service at NRS’s low rate of $50 per hour.
