V ELECTRALITE SUPPLEMENT TO OKLAHOMA LIVING

YouthPower Energy Camp

A Fun and Educational Opportunity for Area 8th Graders

A four-day action-packed ad- venture for eighth-graders, Energy Camp helps develop leadership skills and promotes teamwork while teaching about cooperative enterprises, the rural electrification program and electrical safety. For the first time, CVEC is par- ticipating in this program by spon- soring two students to the camp, which will be held May 30-June 2, 2017 at Canyon Camp, near Hinton, Okla.

While Energy Camp offers many traditional summer camp activities such as swimming, hiking, basketball, and a Ropes course, teens also have unique opportunities such as climbing a utility pole, riding in the basket of a bucket truck, touring one of the largest electric generating facilities in the state and watching a co-op crew at work. They’ll take home a new-found confidence, a bet- ter understanding of the electric cooperative form of business, and a host of new friends from all over Oklahoma.

Students currently enrolled in the eighth grade within CVEC’s

service territory are eligible to compete for a spot at Energy Camp.

For more information on this fun and educational opportunity,

contact CVEC’s Youth Programs Coordinator Jarrod VanZant at 405-382-3680, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or visit www.canadianvalley.org.
