They took pictures with their infrared thermography camera to show the areas of significant energy loss. After the blower door testing was complete, they conducted an air duct leakage test on both my downstairs unit and my upstairs unit.

Todd and John quickly began offering up inexpensive solutions to each problem area. The overall home leakage result for my home was 53 percent. Not as good as what I was hoping for, but as Todd said, “It’s the only time I can give someone bad news and they are happy about it.” And that is the truth. I’m so glad to know the problem areas regarding energy efficiency in my home, so that I can fix them.

The audit team worked a little over four hours in my home. They then headed directly back to the office to

work up my custom report, which Todd sent me the next day. In the report, he explained exactly what I could do, down to offering up names and phone numbers of people who could help me out, to reduce my home’s overall leakage, and therefore lower the overall cost I pay in utilities.

I’ve already made some minor changes… like adding an outlet timer to my hot water heater (which the team provided). I’ve ordered an attic tent to place over the opening of my pull-down attic access. I have plans to seal up my pocket door and have an air duct specialist scheduled to take a look at our ductwork. I can’t wait to have the team come back after everything is done to see what my new test score is. I expect to start seeing savings on my utility bills, as well as feeling just a little more comfortable in my new home.
