Grand Canyon... of the Yellowstone

Yes, there are at least two Grand Canyons in America’s west that are must-visits by any world traveler. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is one of the most dramatic places in the park, from its amazing, oft-photographed waterfalls to its steep, jagged walls that burst forth with awesome pinks, yellows, reds… and a hike reveals all.

The trees, the willows, the mountains, rivers, lakes, a 24-year-old grizzly named Scarface, elk, pronghorn herds, a young black bear, trumpeter swans, moose, and bison. So many bison. We were even caught in a bison jam on our

way to the Snake River. Fabulous. – DON VENDELY, OH

OLD FAITHFUL SNOW LODGE

Whitewater rafting + Snake River = fabulous adventure

Legend has it that the Snake River got its name by mistake, when a Shoshone hand sign for “fish” was misinterpreted as “snake,” and the name stuck. Whatever you call it, it’s a pretty awesome river – as you’ll find out for yourself when you head out on a whitewater rafting adventure along the Snake’s route through the magnificent Tetons.

Pedaling around the Tetons

Trade in your hiking boots (temporarily) for a bicycle as you join our guide for a leisurely ride on the new Teton Mountain Trail, traveling along the scenic sagebrush of Antelope Flats, with the majestic Tetons just beyond – keeping an eye out for bison, pronghorn and, naturally, antelope as you marvel at the grandeur around you.

Just steps from Old Faithful, the Old Faithful Snow Lodge has been recognized with the Cody Award for Western Design. Its heavy timber construction, exterior log columns and cedar shingle roof make it a significant modern example of “classic” new-style architecture within the park.

JACKSON LAKE LODGE

Spectacular views are just steps away from your cottage in the woodland at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, a National Historic Landmark perched on a bluff with the magnificent Tetons rising from the valley floor.
