PRODUCT UPDATE

Sensors and detectors NXIR family of photodiodes

Opto Diode has introduced the NXIR family of photodiodes, designed specifically for back- facet laser-monitoring applications that require improved performance in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum from 700nm to 1,100nm. The NXIR product line expands the company’s SXUV and UVG photodiode series, designed to maximise measurement repeatability and reliability in high-powered UV laser-monitoring systems, with affordable products optimised for near-infrared wavebands. The NXIR-RF36 and NXIR-RF70 near-IR / red-

SAH Si APDs

Laser Components has announced that its new range of inexpensive silicon avalanche photodiodes (APDs) come in an SMD housing. These APDs are optimised for wavelength ranges between 400nm and 1,100nm, with the dimensions 3.1 x 1.8 x 1mm. Responsivity is optimised for 905nm pulsed laser diodes.

The SAH series is based on epitaxial structure with short rise times from 250ps

enhanced models offer reduced footprints and are ideally suited for integration with semiconductor lasers, notably Fabry-Perot (FP), distributed feedback (DFB), and vertical-cavity surface- emitting lasers (VCSELs). The new devices have high responsivity of 0.65 A/W at 850nm, low capacitance of 5 picofarads (pF) at 0V, and high shunt resistance, greater than 200MΩ. www.optodiode.com

6-Pin SDIP optocouplers

Everlight Electronics has introduced two single channel 6-pin SDIP 1Mbit/s and 10Mbit/s transistor output optocouplers. With half the dimensions of comparable 8-Pin 6N13X devices, they are both suited for use in space constraint industrial applications.

to 300ps, and is available in active area diameters of 230µm and 500µm. These APDs feature very low noise and high quantum efficiency. With a large multiplication gain and wide operating temperature range, these APDs are particularly suited to optical communication systems, speed measurement, laser radar guns, and security scanners, as well as for use in test and measurement systems in industry and medicine. www.lasercomponents.co.uk

Both ELS511 and ELS611 are SMD devices in a small outline 6-pin SDIP package. The ELS511 series devices each consist of an infrared emitting diode, optically coupled to a high-speed photo detector transistor. A separate connection for the photodiode bias and output-transistor collector increases the speed by several orders of magnitude over conventional phototransistor couplers by reducing the base-collector capacitance of the input transistor. The ELS611 series devices consist of an infrared emitting diode optically coupled to a high speed integrated photo detector logic gate with a storable output.

Their dimensions of 9.7 x 4.58 x 3.38mm, half of those of a 6N13X series (8-Pin), eases the use in designs with limited PCB area to make them perfect for space constrained industrial applications like high speed ground isolation. www.everlight.com
