use. A choice of USB or RS-232 communications, supported by drivers and software, makes it easy to integrate into almost any system. Indicator LEDs show continuous power and data transfer status. www.oceanoptics.com

Ophir-Spiricon will showcase new technologies for measuring and controlling high power laser parameters. BeamWatch is an industrial beam monitoring system for measuring focus spot shift, waist width, and M2 for high power YAG, fibre, and diode lasers. The device makes measurements without contacting the laser beam. Designed for material processing applications to 100kW and higher, BeamWatch measures focus spots down to 55µm. Two-axis viewing allows determination of roundness.

PRISM AWARDS TO SHOWCASE INNOVATIONS IN PHOTONICS

The finalists for the 2016 Prism Awards have been announced. The winners of the awards for innovation in photonics will be presented during a gala event held on 17 February at Photonics West in San Francisco. Finalists include a dental laser from Convergent Dental, a Raman explosive detector from Alakai Defense Systems, and a MEMS near infrared detector from Hamamatsu, as well as retinal imaging laser eyewear from QD Laser and a laser projector for the cinema from Dolby, Christie, and Necsel. Lasers from Coherent, LightFab,

to pack up to eight wavelength- selective photodiodes into a compact 9 x 9mm array format for simpler and smaller optical devices. One PixelSensor replaces multiple components, helping OEMs shrink multi-wavelength instruments for applications including in vitro diagnostics, biochemical assays, industrial sorting, and colorimetry applications. PixelSensor’s wafer-level optical filters split the spectrum into eight discrete colour bands and suppress out-of-band background light, improving contrast and sensitivity.
