The strategic move will support THG’s vision to become the beauty industry’s leading digital partner as online shopping becomes more popular among consumers. Meanwhile, Dermstore’s subscription box service will allow THG to increase the scale of its beauty box business.

Snapchat adds brands’ AR features to its platform with Perfect Corp deal


US Social media platform Snapchat has signed a deal with beauty tech provider Perfect Corp adding beauty try-on features to its site. The agreement allows beauty brands that are partnered with Perfect Corp to bring their interactive experiences to Snapchat. In return, the platform’s 180


million users will be able to scour more than 200 brands’ virtual storefronts, where they can experiment and shop for products. According to Snapchat, brands that use shoppable AR lenses have seen a 2.4 times uptick in higher action intent compared with the Q3 average.


M&S REFOCUSES ON SUSTAINABILITY WITH PLAN A PROGRAMME RELAUNCH


US Supermarket chain Marks & Spencer (M&S) has put sustainability back into focus with the relaunch of its Plan A programme. The retailer has not revealed the intimate details of the plan. However, the group’s Chairman, Archie Norman, said “the time has come to look again at our plans and challenge our thinking”.


Alongside Plan A’s reintroduction, M&S has created an ESG Board Sub-Committee to oversee the initiative’s progress across the business. The group’s first task, according to Norman, will be to agree a timetable for the relaunch. First announced in 2007, the strategy set out for M&S to become carbon neutral, reduce its waste from landfill, extend its sustainable sourcing and set new standards of ethical trading. All of its store operations, offices, warehouses and delivery fleets are now certified carbon neutral, while by 2022 the group hopes to achieve 100% recyclable packaging and reduce its landfill waste to zero.

Dolly Parton duets with Edge Beauty on new fragrance line


US Dolly Parton has inked a long term licence agreement with Edge Beauty to create her signature fragrance. Fragrances will be inspired by the country music superstar’s own signature scent, with the first collection set to launch in spring.


“Fragrance has always played a major role in my life – I wear my own combination of scents every day,” said Parton. “I am so excited to share this dream with my fans. Developing my own brand and scent with Edge Beauty has been an amazing experience, and I am looking forward to becoming a part of the fragrance community.”
