Harrogate-based show looks at innovation for growth
Busy show in Harrogate promises to deliver even more for shooters in future years
T
he Northern Shooting Show is gearing up to be even bigger and better in 2019 after another hugely successful event this year. This year’s show, which took place May 12th-13th at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate, saw record sales from exhibitors and a 10 per cent hike in footfall, with the organisers claiming a record 22,000 people through the gates. Richard Stokoe, Northern Shooting Show owner and event organiser, told T&G: “Overall I’m very happy, visitor feedback has been by far the best yet… “We knew we were having a lot of new visitors this year so we had to
pull the stops out so we could kick on for subsequent years. The only issue was the traffi c, where unfortunately we were a victim of our own success and had a few growing pains. “We rectifi ed the traffi c and Sunday ran very smoothly and new plans are already in place for 2019 on that front.” Asked if there was anything he would have changed, Richard said: “We’ve had very positive with record sales on the Saturday, Sunday was quieter as you would expect and the glorious weather made it diffi cult to hold visitor attention inside. “Would I or could I have changed anything? Yes of course but it’s only
minor bits, every year we’re evolving and trying new things the best part now we’re established is exhibitors know where and what they are doing so it makes it easier all round.” Not one to rest on his laurels,
Richard is already looking forward to the 2019 event. He added: “We are already going to be bigger as we held key meetings over the weekend with many big players coming onboard for next year and existing exhibitors wanting to go bigger. “We also have a few innovative ideas up our sleeve but can’t say too much yet until it’s confi rmed.” The 2019 event will take place on Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th May.
