an EX92 scored third calver from Richard Bown. Also on her first outing she calved in January and was shown giving 53kg. Her dam is Richaven Goldwyn Squaw EX95- 3E, one of three EX dams that average 95 points.
Once again the longevity of the breed was evident with the quality of senior and mature cows in the Holstein classes a major talking point of the show. Winning a strong mature cow class was Riverdane Holsteins’ Riverdane Talented Rose EX95-4E, a sixth calved Talent daughter. Calved in November and giving 60kg a day she produced 12,972kg at 4.45%bf and 3.09%p in her fifth lactation. On her only other show outing she stood champion at Western Spring Show 2015. She is the eighth generation of VG or EX dams, her dam being Riverdane Mtoto Rose EX90.
BRITISH FRIESIAN
Securing the top two spots in the British Friesian championship was the Burroughs family. Their victor was Oakalby Vienna Sheila 41, a fourth calved Langley Vienna daughter out of Oakalby Breadwin Sheila 18 BFE93-4E.
Giving 38kg a day having calved in October she was shown by Andrea Vale and had previously stood champion heifer and overall champion at the Livestock Event 2012 and overall champion at the Livestock Event 2013. Michael Heath commented: “I was impressed by the dairy qualities of the champion, she had a square frame and square shaped udder, she excelled over the reserve in all areas.”
Oakalby Quadrant Sheila 50 secured the reserve spot, this January calved heifer was shown giving 22kg a day and stood champion calf at the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show 2014. Sired by Deangate Quadrant, she is out of a homebred dam by Oakalby Rebel. Adam Lawson stood honourable mention with Lismulligan Eileen 39, a VG88 second calver that last calved in October and is producing 28kg a day, with a projected yield of 7785kg. Having stood second to the champion, she also stood second at UK Dairy Expo 2015.
Milliedale Dusk Rhapsody from Millie Wardle stood reserve senior and reserve grand champion.

RED AND WHITE
In the Red and White judging Jeff Stephen had the task of casting his expert eye over the entries, tapping out his champion as Parkend Director Starlet Red from Brian Weatherup.
“There is a lot of cow with a lot of dairy quality for her size. She overwhelmed everything for size, frame and balance. She had a long fore udder that blended well in to her body.”
This VG88 three year old is by Scientific Director Red, giving 50kg a day having calved her second in December, she is out of Lesmay Jordan Starlet Red EX91.
She stood red and white junior champion at UK Dairy Expo 2014, intermediate champion and red and white champion at UK Dairy Day 2014 and red and white heifer champion at AgriScot 2014. Reserve to her was the second prize three year old, Sterndale Alchemy Noel Red from Bill Nadin and Yasmin Bradbury. This Hunsberger Alchemy daughter is out of Sterndale Advent Noel Red EX90 who also bred the £20,000 Sterndale Atwood Noel VG89.
