Home comfort with Fujitsu Multi Splits
I
t’s not so long ago that few UK residents had ever seriously considered installing an air conditioning system at home. They may have
enjoyed the benefits on holidays abroad but it was difficult to justify the expense in our traditionally temperate climate. But the Covid pandemic, coupled with steadily rising temperatures, have created new demand for comfort at home. What was once considered to be a luxury item is fast becoming mainstream. Lockdowns led to a huge increase in the numbers of people working from home and, while restrictions have now been lifted, it seems clear that hybrid working patterns are here to stay for many in one form or another. Sales of residential equipment have increased
accordingly and Fujitsu’s R32 Multi Split range is well equipped to meet the needs of this growing market, boasting high efficiencies, contemporary design features and the full controllability demanded by today’s technology-aware consumers. Whether providing cooling and heating for
year-round comfort in a home office, or making it easier to sleep on hot summer nights, the Fujitsu line-up is proving increasingly popular with homeowners. Operating on low-GWP refrigerant R32, which is highly energy efficient and requires less refrigerant charge than previous R410A models, the Multi Split line-up can connect to between 2-5
indoor units, depending on model, and covers capacities from 4.0kW-9.5kW in cooling and 4.4kW-10.6kW in heating. All models achieve a high energy efficiency ranking of A+++ for cooling and A++ for heating, thanks to the DC twin rotary compressor, DC inverter control and large heat exchanger.
Multi Splits offer a significant benefit by offering individual control to multiple indoor units. They save space by operating from a common condenser and offering individual controllability (on/off, room setpoint and fan speed control) due to each indoor unit operating with its own electronic expansion valve (EEV), only being tied to the same operating mode. This is generally suitable for residential or small commercial applications because the cooling or heating requirements of a space would usually be very similar.
Also important for residential installations, the systems use a single-phase power supply of 230v and feature low operating currents. The maximum running current of the largest Multi Split, with 5 indoor units connected, is 20 amps. The range offers a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of up to 8.7 and, importantly for the home environment, a reduction in outdoor sound power levels compared to the previous R410A range of up to 7dB.

outdoor units boast a 15.5% reduction in depth and a 36.2% reduction in space requirement against the previous R410A version. Appearance and functionality are key when it comes to choosing indoor units for the home and Fujitsu offers a wide range of 41 models across wall, compact cassette, ducted, floor and ceiling suspended options. Capacities here range from 2.0kW-6.0kW. In addition, WIFI control is available across all indoor models using a wireless interface and the ‘FGLair’ app - providing you complete control of your home’s cooling and heating anytime and anywhere.
The wall mounted designer series offer a stylish solu- tion to heat and cool your home.
