Some of the ISPO Outdoor exhibitors who made an impression included the following ISPO Gold award winners

Therm-a-Rest, a specialist in outdoor camping comfort won an ISPO Gold Award for its NeoAir Camper SV. The NeoAir Camper SV, was a winner in the category “Outdoor – Tents and Recreation” and was one of 67 Gold winners selected by an international jury of outdoor experts. The mattress’ new Speed Valve revolutionises inflating and deflating. It is said to inflate three times faster than traditional valves in similarly sized mattresses, using less than 10 breaths, while deflation is almost instantaneous. The Speed Valve employs the Bernoulli Principal for its rapid inflation; the air blown into the mattress entraps surrounding air, dragging it into the mattress along with your original breath, thereby amplifying your effort and inflating the mattress more quickly.

Sock brand, Teko won the Gold award at for its new Regenerate Me Super Cushion multi-sport sock; making it the second time in the last six months that the brand has won a major industry award for its 100% recyclable sock. The Regenerate Me Super Cushion multi-sport sock won Gold in the Eco Performance category. The win reinforces Teko’s achievement last summer where it won an award for the same product at the OutDoor Industry Awards held in Germany in July 2015. Gordon Fraser, owner of Teko, said: “Winning an international industry award for a product even once is a great achievement, but winning it twice is outstanding. The Regenerate Me Marathon Super Cushion sock is constructed with a microfibre which has been developed in conjunction with nylon regenerator Econyl and can be 100% recycled.

inov-8 bolstered its position in all-terrain running product design with two awards at ISPO. The AT/C Thermoshell HZ was voted best in the performance apparel (outer layers) category by a panel of judges and named a 2016/2017 ISPO Award Gold Winner.

The South Korean outdoor brand BlackYak enjoyed a good start to its first global collection on the European market. The jury at the ISPO Awards honoured BlackYak with 11 awards for its products – with eight of these being gold. “That is an absolutely fantastic result, we are delighted that the members of the jury decided the way they did and we are proud of the work that the whole BlackYak team has done over the past number of years,” said Maximilian Nortz, managing director international business Europe. The first global collection from BlackYak took over two years to develop. The goal: to enter the market with real innovations and independent designs.

Berghaus’ Extrem 8000 Pro jacket, the flagship product from its all new Extrem range for autumn/winter 2016, won a ‘Gold’ in the 3L outer layer category. Following the assessment of a panel of expert judges from across Europe, the Extrem 8000 Pro was named the best on show. This is the third year in a row that a product created by the Berghaus MtnHaus design and development team has won an ISPO Award.
