A Mentoring Journey that Led to Success
BY PATRICK CONNOLE T Tana Gall Dan Madsen 24 SENIOR LIVING EXECUTIVE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2022
ana Gall, president, Merrill Gardens, recently took part in the Argentum Women in Leadership (WIL) webinar series to talk about the crucial role a mentoring rela- tionship played in her career progression from public relations (PR) director to the leadership of a senior living provider. Gall was joined by the mentor in her mentee-mentor part- nership, Dan Madsen, chairman and chief executive officer of Leisure Care, a Seattle-based privately held owner of retire- ment and assisted living companies. Some 28 years ago, Gall said the mentorship with Madsen started. After graduating college and working for a time in an advertising agency as a PR specialist, she connected with Leisure Care. Knowing absolutely nothing about senior living, or long-term care, Gall thought she was headed for a stint running PR for a nursing home company.
