Orbis and VODA.ai partnership boosts leakage offering


Water technology company Orbis Intelligent Systems and artificial intelligence (AI) specialist VODA.ai have entered into a strategic partnership offering a combined skillset to support US utilities andmunicipalities with their leakage strategies.


Orbis develops smart, data-driven technologies that provide real-time insights into pipeline infrastructure. Products include the SmartCap, an intelligent fire hydrant and pipe monitoring device that enables remote leak detection.


VODA.ai is a software-as-a-service company which helps water utilities prioritize their infrastructure investment through AI analyses. Its patent-pending systemusesmachine learning to virtually assess the condition and risk of each pipe segment in a water system, enabling science-based decisionmaking.


The companies’ joint offering will allow utilities to closer align non-revenue water strategies with capital pipe


replacement projects by understanding where to deploy Orbis technology based on VODA’s analytics-based predictions.

BritishWater seeks views on Water Company Performance


Water sector supply chain companies are being invited to share their experiences of working with UK utilities over the past 12months. This is against a backdrop of an expected increase in spend to improve environmental performance.


Membership organisation BritishWater has launched its annual UKWater Company Performance Survey for 2023, which asks contractors, consultants and suppliers to rate their clients’ performance in 12 areas, including procurement, professionalism,

contractual approach, innovation and communication.


The water industry is facing a challenging backdrop of energy price increases, skills shortages, deteriorating assets, and the need to address sector- wide carbon and environmental and performance targets. The survey is a way of identifying the strengths and weaknesses of utilities fromthe perspective of supply chain companies.
