Introducing the Xylem Flygt EMF801 Magflux
Flowmeter and Magflux Quad Xylem, a leading global specialist in water technologies, has launched two new flowmeters: the MagFlux Quad and the WRAS and MCERTS approved Flygt EMF801 MagFlux Flowmeter. Providing an accurate solution for flow measurement in pipes, the systems seamlessly integrate with Flygt’s range of pumps and control devices, as Andrew Welsh, ICA general manager, explains.
For any industrial process that handles liquid or gas, measuring flow is a necessity. It ensures that the right fluid is in the right place, at the right time and it keeps employees and vital equipment safe.
The Flygt EMF801 MagFlux and MagFlux Quad Flowmeters represent a good choice for anyone who values accuracy, usability, flexibility and low maintenance when measuring flow.
The Flygt EMF801 MagFlux Flowmeter and the MagFlux Quad offer an accuracy of 0.25 per cent, even when measuring slow flow velocity as low as 0.2m/sec, through to highs of 10m/sec. The in- built data logger is capable of recording 20,000
entries, giving both an accurate and a consistent reading when measuring flow where space is a premium. Minimum pipe diameter for accurate flow on MagFlux EMF801 3 x Diameter inlet and 2 x Diameter outlet and on the MagFlux Quad only 1 x Diameter inlet and 1 x Diameter outlet.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the Flygt EMF801 MagFlux Flowmeter and the MagFlux Quad come in a full
range of sizes, from DN20 (3/4”) to DN1200 (48”). To further meet the needs of a variety of applications, both Flygt flowmeters are also available with compact or remote mount design. This means that the intuitive, 5-line menu display can be fitted up to 1000 metres away from the sensor, if space restrictions are a challenge. For processes that involve a high level of flow, the display can withstand submersion in a depth of up to 10 metres (30 feet).
For busy process engineers, ease of installation is key, for an accurate measurement. Thanks to the unique MagFlux calibration code, the Flygt
Flowmeters are quick and easy to commission, getting the system up and running easily and efficiently. Once operating, the Flygt Flowmeters are also capable of detecting when the pipe is empty and will alert operators to prevent breakdown and avert false flow calculations.
Maintenance time is further cut by the system’s automatic electrode cleaning, which is active as standard.
Flow measurement isn’t glamorous, but it’s something that needs to be done. Investing in Xylem Flygt Flowmeters makes this job as easy, and as automatic, as possible.
New adaptable wastewater mixer delivers
next-level mixing efficiency Xylem’s newly launched compact submersible wastewater mixer featuring easily adaptable output capabilities, delivers energy savings of approximately 50 percent.
Xylem’s new Flygt 4220 mixer enhances the resilience and sustainability of wastewater treatment plants, enabling operators to easily manage changing mixing conditions by simply adjusting the mixer output. As the Flygt 4220 can be controlled to deliver only the output required, a plant’s energy consumption can be significantly reduced.
“Plant operators are looking for mixer technology that enables them to increase operational

efficiency, improve performance based on their specific system demands, and provide real-time data to extend product lifecycle and reduce downtime and maintenance costs,” said Johan Tegstam, Director, Product Management for Xylem.
He continues: “The beauty of our new Flygt 4220 mixer lies in its adaptability. Plant operators can easily modify the mixer output, via a tank-side control panel, a programmable controller or plant-wide control system, to match current mixing needs. This functionality dramatically reduces energy consumption compared to traditional fixed output mixers, significantly improves process productivity and futureproofs a facility’s mixing efficiency. We’ve designed the Flygt 4220 mixer to deliver comprehensive information about the mixer’s performance and status, including speed, power, alarms, running time and energy consumption. The mixer features a number of auto- correction functions, including overload control to protect the equipment and secure process results.”
