as a pastor, Nathan said, “My wife keeps me focused. She reminds me of God’s call in my life and challenges me remain faith- ful to what I know to be true.” He went on to mention several other mentors: I have been blessed with many mentors
and I find differing strengths from each. In college I had two professors who poured a lot into my life — Dr. Wayne Strickland and Professor Dave Jongward. Both Pastor Jerry Franz and Pastor Allan Wiebe here at EBC have many years of experience and wisdom that I have desired to glean from. Nathan also points to his own father
whom he greatly respects and admires. As the son of a preacher, his dad has been key in helping Nathan navigate raising children while in ministry. Tere was no hesitation when Nathan was
asked what aspect of ministry he enjoys most: “My favorite part of ministry is 8:30–9:00 p.m. every Sunday night when I teach our high school youth group. I love teaching!” Before entering ministry Nathan had
jobs that required manual labor. So now, when he wants to relax from the pressures of ministry, he turns to work. “As funny as it sounds, I enjoy yard work, so it is fun to get outside and physically work. Plus I find it to be good mental therapy!” Fellowship Focus congratulates Nathan
on his ordination. May God guard him and give him success in shaping youth to glorify God.
Keith Brich will be ordained on Sep- tember 25. Although Keith is the pastor of First Community Church of Oak, Nebras- ka, he is also a missionary under Village
Missions. His home church, Crosspoint Bible Church of Omaha, Neb., has sponsored his ordination along with the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches. A graduate of Grace University in
Omaha, Neb., Keith studied to prepare for full-time ministry. During his last year of college, he had several opportunities to fill pulpits in rural/small town churches. Tis gave him a desire to pursue rural ministry. Keith and his wife Lynda began their ministry in Oak on Reformation Day (October 31) in 2012. When asked about men who had influ-
enced him spiritually, Keith replied: I did an internship under Dr. Don Pahl
at Crosspoint Bible Church (where I was a member even before attending Grace University). I have appreciated his example. I have also appreciated getting to know Rev. Jeff Friesen at Hebron Bible Church, and I value his wisdom and experience. Keith is quick to affirm that teaching
and preaching are the aspects of pastoring he enjoys most. His wife, Lynda, is very active with the women in the church and helps plan fellowship events. For relaxation (and meat), Keith loves
to hunt whitetail deer. “I’m blessed to be in an area with an abundance of deer. Besides the time I spend hunting, it’s also been a great way to spend time with my 15-year-old daughter, Savannah, my fellow hunter for the past two years.” Fellowship Focus congratulates Keith on
his ordination. May the Chief Shepherd open many hearts for the Gospel in the Oak community.
Peacemaking appears to be one of God’s favorite subjects, as peace is mentioned in the niv Bible 249 times. Everyone can quote Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers…” but most don’t have any idea how to become one. Does living in peace mean becoming a doormat? Is it possible to live in peace in the midst of chaos? What if the other person refuses to cooperate? I hope to answer these questions, and more over the course of the webinar. It isn’t easy to be a peacemaker, but it’s worth it.
Darrel Giesbrecht is a long-time member of Crosspoint Bible Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He and his wife Marcy met at Grace University in Omaha, and are parents to three kids, and grandparents to two.
For the past 15 years, Darrel has run data- bases for the Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha. He is the current Chairman of the Board of Elders at Crosspoint, and has a soſt spot in his heart for biblical peacemaking, having taught it in several Sunday School classes, presented it in the men’s ministry, and taken his board of elders through a course.
