encounter dark times. Our prayer is that they will find hope in following Jesus, the Light of the World! Our pastors, along with Darcy Friesen

and Samantha Nemanishen, were encour- aged through attending the FEBC Con- vention. We are thankful to be a part of a growing and faithful fellowship of churches. Pray for us as we prepare for fall

ministry to families in our church and community through Awana clubs, and youth and adult Bible studies. We desire to be intentional in outreach, prayer, and the spiritual training of Christ’s body. Marilyn Friesen, Correspondent

Northeast Bible Church Calgary Alberta John Fehr, Pastor Emmanuel T. Dan-Adokiene (13) is a

young man from our youth group who has a heart to serve. When a new family with a baby and a toddler started to attend 18 months ago, Emmanuel voluntarily waited at the door of the church each Sunday till they arrived, then went out to help carry in all their baby gear. He sat with them in church, holding one of the children while the mother, who oſten needs to come by her- self while her husband works, tends to the

other. His kind servant heart is evident to all and has been such a blessing to this family. In April of this year Emanuel was

honored by being chosen from among his soccer team mates to go to Holland for 12 days as a guest of the Utrecht Elite Soccer Club. Tere he had an opportunity to let his light shine for the Lord among students from many countries. He was exposed to professional players, learned new skills, gained confidence becoming more men- tally and physically alert and was guided through the process by an inspiring coach. Emmanuel’s life is a bright testimony

for God and an inspiration to those who want to spread the good news of Christ’s love and kindness. Julie Ann Simpson, Correspondent

Cornerstone Bible Church Steinbach, Manitoba Pastor Eric Honsberger Tis past July Steinbach had its first

ever gay pride parade. Tousands of people showed up. Being in the “Bible belt” of southern Manitoba, we were in the lime- light of controversy for several weeks over this issue. Te parade ended at city hall, which is across the street from our church. You could hear spectators cheering wildly from inside our building. As Steinbach grows, we are becoming

more and more of an inner city church, and as our culture devolves the pressures will increase. Pray that we will be ready to face the challenges of tomorrow! We long to be a light in a dark world (Matthew 5:13-16). It is our hope to grow where we are and to proclaim the gospel boldly with love. To this end we labor with the strength God provides. May we be found faithful. New Members: Five in June and July Chad Wiebe, Correspondent

friends who came especially for the day. FEBC president Blaine Donaldson spoke and gave a challenge to both pastor and congregation (see photo, page 8). Elders Larry Rusch led in a time of

prayer, and Elder Bob Pollock told of his specific prayer for the Lord to send the church a pastor; this prayer apparently was on the same day that Pastor Janofski had stopped at the church to offer to help (see “Ordinations” page 8). It was a tremendous blessing to hear of the Lord’s timing in all of this, from his initial decision to stop at the church since he saw a car there, to the meeting with Bob Pollock and to hear of his fervent prayer and sense that the Lord was answering that specific prayer. A community picnic followed with

others from the area joining us. All three of the Janofski children and their families were there for the picnic. Tirteen musicians pro- vided background music during the event.

Christian Fellowship Chapel Winnipeg, Manitoba John Harwood, Pastor Eucharisteo, an evening of praise

and worship, was inspired by our home groups’ study of One Tousand Giſts by Ann Voskamp. One of our young people worked with our praise and worship leader to facilitate this special gathering on a Tursday summer evening. It was a bless- ing to sing, share, and pray together. We sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit. Baptisms: Two in July and August Linda Edwards, Correspondent

Heartland Bible Church Lincoln, Nebraska Scott Hecht, Pastor We celebrated Promotion Sunday

on June 5. Each child was recognized as they moved up to their next class. Tis was followed by our church picnic at Roberts Park. On June 26 Robert Brock from Voice

of the Martyrs (persecution.org) told us about the persecution that our brothers and sisters in Christ face in many countries.
