NE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION THAT SHOULD PROVE EASY TO KEEP FOR members of the medical community is attending the IMCAS Annual World Congress in Paris this month. Taking place between the 28th
and 31st
of January,
the 2016 IMCAS Annual World Congress will bring together expert speakers from across the world to share their expertise and latest research with over 6,000 attendees. This year’s 18th
including vulvovaginal treatments, lasers and energy based devices (EBD), cosmeceuticals, and male treatments. The conference is opening its doors this year with its landmark one-day event, the Minimally
Invasive Cadaver Workshop. Live dissections on cadavers take place over the course of 8 hours, beamed live to the conference room and offering an unparalleled insight into the most up-to-date use of injectables and threads. This session also includes an interactive live stream between physician commentators in Paris, Taipei, and Tokyo, making the congress a truly international event. Reflecting the increasing popularity of genital treatments, the cadaver workshop culminates
with a genital cadaver demonstration that ties in to four other sessions during the congress that look at surgical, laser, and injectable procedures for cosmetic and functional vulvovaginal improvements. Dr Red Alinsod’s lecture on the use of radiofrequency (RF) for vulvovaginal laxity is certainly one to look out for. Ageing skin has always been a special focus of the IMCAS congresses, making it no surprise that
this year’s congress is dedicating one day to the cosmeceuticals market. Attendees get to see the latest research relating to skin ageing and nutraceuticals as well as live demonstrations and a look forward at the developments to come in the field over the next 5 years. The fast evolving laser and EBD market is also covered during specific sessions looking at the
newest technologies in the field, such as the Nd:Yag laser. My own lecture discusses the most recent advances in the use of the picosecond laser and the treatment of melasma. On the surgery side of the curriculum, an exciting roundtable session sees industry
representatives discuss and debate the latest developments in breast implants. Other highlights include a rhinoplasty session featuring lectures from esteemed US plastic surgeon, Dr Rod Rohrich, a 3-hour lipofilling and stem cell video workshop and a new look at treatments dedicated to male patients with a focus on male body contouring. The rest of the conference covers an array of topics including clinical dermatology, an analysis
of the current and future medical aesthetic market and the essentials of practice management. It is exactly this breadth in content that makes IMCAS such a great event, and a requisite experience for practitioners all over the world.
