readers in more countries around the world turning to PRIME for the latest content in aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine. But to do that I’ll need help, your help in fact. No one is better placed to comment on the latest advances in the science, cutting edge technology or new treatment techniques than those who practise in the industry every day. So if you feel you have something to say, I want to hear from you. Sharing information with your peers is a great way to keep the industry moving-forward and raise standards. I wouldn’t proclaim that once you read an article in PRIME, you will suddenly know all there is to know on a subject, but I hope you will learn enough to pique your interest and begin asking questions of your own that you will want to continue to research. Looking at this issue, our peer-review content looks at topics ranging from

male pattern hair loss, liposuction, and topical Vitamin C. We also have an article entitled ‘Beauty beyond basic skin types,’ written by Dr Sherine S. Raveendran, which looks at expanding the number of skin types the industry traditionally considers in order to adapt and target treatment regimens to better suit the patient. By considering a person’s ethnicity, as well as geographical and seasonal conditions, Raveendran believes skin care treatment results can be improved. In addition to our peer-review content, we also have two features written

by industry expert, Wendy Lewis. The first, looks at what ingredients and products will be trending in the cosmeceutical market this year. Speaking to a number of cosmetic dermatologists, the feature takes a candid look at what

patients are after and what the experts recommend. To find out more, turn to page 12. Her second feature, which can be found on page 50, focuses on how you can market your skills and expertise by writing a book. As someone who has written 11 books of her own, she is certainly in a position to share some pearls of wisdom and help you turn an idea into something tangible. HILE THE FESTIVE BREAK MAY ALREADY SEEM LIKE A DISTANT memory, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy new year. As I’m sure many of you already do, I think it is important at the beginning of each year to set professional goals for yourself. Write them down and revisit them often in order to remind yourself and evaluate how you will achieve them. They don’t need to be earth-shattering, world
