Electric is moulding Y
connectors for intravenous
drip therapy in a cycle time of 18s
At Chinaplas 2017, taking place in Guangzhou on May 16-19, there will be major global suppliers to injection moulders who are exhibiting recent technology developments. KraussMaffei is showcasing the
latest addition to its wide range of injection moulding machines, the all-electric PX series. Launched at K 2016, the PX series is a line of modular machines, designed to suit all purposes by allowing customers to mix injection units with different clamping units.

“We see plenty of potential for the new PX series in the 3C industry (computer, communication and consum- er electronics), the connector industry, packaging for pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, automotive applications and medical technology,” says Jörg Wittgrebe, Vice President Sales at KraussMaffei in China. Customers are able to select from a number of options, including enlarged platens and faster injection speeds. KraussMaffei has two PX demonstrations at Chinaplas. One is a PX 50-180 SilcoSet moulding liquid silicone rubber (LSR) nasal ventilation units for babies. Also, a PX 160-540 will mould a demonstrator showing surface effects with precision structures and a holo- gram appearance, created with its partner RocTool using inductive dynamic mould heating technology. Arburg is another European company highlighting
electric machines, in the form of its Allrounder Golden Electric series launched in 2016. An Allrounder 370 E Golden Electric with a clamping force of 60 tonnes is demonstrating the suitability of the machines for the precise production of medical technology parts. The exhibit uses a 2-cavity mould from Chinese company Wellmei i to produce Y connectors for intravenous drip therapy in a cycle time of 18s. Arburg is also demonstrating LSR processing, using
an entry-level hydraulic machine, the Allrounder 420 C Golden Edition with a clamping force of 100 tonnes. The machine is producing flexible LSR covers for the iPhone 6 in a cycle time of around 25s. The parts weigh 21g. At the Hekuma exhibit an Arburg hybrid Allrounder 520 H is using a 64-cavity high-performance mould to produce pipette tips from PP in a cycle time of around 4.8s. Weighing 0.35g each, the moulded parts are set down in trays of 96 units. The quality control and robotic systems are supplied by Hekuma, which is highlighting its HekuFlex modular concept being introduced into Asian markets this year. Its demonstration automation cell has three modules: take out, camera check and packaging for the pipette tips produced on the Arburg machine. The flexible architec- ture of HekuFlex means systems can be upgraded or downsized, for example,
