wt%. Loadings of 0.2-0.5 wt% are sufficient to meet ESD requirements. The new materials are available as encapsulated

flake or chopped glass formats and are said to be “drop-in” products that require no special handling or safety precautions. ❙ www.appliednanostructuredsolutions.com

sustainable plastic composites incorporating Algae biomass. These include filled polyolefins, polystyrene or bioplastics. The companies are showcasing new resins formulated for foam applications and 3D printing filaments. ❙ www.algix.com

Americhem is debuting new additions to its nDuramax range of UV stabilizers at NPE 2015. They have been developed for outdoor exposure applications in polymer films based on PET, PE and ionomer resins. The UV stabilizers can be combined with colours and other additives to create customised multi-functional masterbatches. ❙ www.americhem.com

Applied Nanostructured Solutions (ANS) is launching two new nanomaterials at the show for the production of plastic parts with integral EMI shielding or ESD capabilities. The new products are based on the company’s

proprietary carbon nanotube production process and are designed for easy incorporation into plastic compounds. They are claimed to provide EMI shielding performance of up to 60dB at typical loadings of 5-7

Croda is in Orlando to promote its range of polymer additives, including products for anti-fog, anti-static, mould release, pigment dispersion, UV absorption, torque release, plus slip and anti-block applications. It is focusing on new slip additive developments with a presentation at the concurrent ANTEC conference. ❙ www.croda.com

Genarex is exhibiting at NPE for the first time to promote its biobased additives which can be blended with plastics such as polyolefins, PVC or PLA, at loadings of 10-30%. Two grades are offered, both with USDA certified biobased contents up to 98%. Bylox is opti- mised for ductility, while Bylox HT is high-performance version for higher temperature process- ing and near-zero odour, says the company. Target applications for the latter

include food packaging, commer- cial packaging and agricultural films.

Milliken is highlighting the use of its Millad NX 8000 clarifying agent to create Ultra Clear PP with glass-like clarity and a bright appearance that can compete with PET or PS in thermoformed packaging applications. At its booth, Milliken is providing comparisons between Ultra Clear PP and these other materials, including the weight reductions that can be achieved by using lower-density PP resin. Another major focus of Milliken’s exhibit is its newly launched Hyperform HPN 210 M nucleating agent for injection-moulded HDPE used in material handling applications. This additive allows for higher productiv- ity, increased stiffness, reduced warpage and a higher heat deflection temperature compared to traditional HDPE, elevating its performance to levels approaching those of PP impact copolymers. The company is also discussing the expanding use of

its Hyperform HPR-803i reinforcing agent by major automotive manufacturers and suppliers due to increasing industry demand for lightweight interior and exterior parts. The additive helps to create high-perfor-
