Romira expands its R&D team
Romira has expanded its R&D team with the appointment of three new members. Alexan- der Exner, Frauke Harpen and Dr Milena Pöhlmann join existing R&D team members Dr Jianmin Ding and Dr Daniela Tomova. In addition to her R&D role, Harpen will also be the
contact partner for Rowa USA. Germany-based Romira is part of the Rowa Group and specialises in the production of compounds and blends based on a range of engineering plastics, including ABS, PC, ASA, SAN, PBT, PPE, PA and HIPS.

Americhem boosts small-lot capabilities
Custom colour and additive specialist Americhem has installed two new small-lot masterbatch production lines at its facility at Cuyahoga Falls in Ohio, USA, adding 1,360 tonnes of additional annual capacity. “We’ve added these
work-cells to increase service, cost effectiveness and reduce lead times for our customers,” said Matthew Miklos, Amer- ichem’s commercial vice president and general manager for the Americas. “With the increasing demand for smaller lot sizes of our masterbatch products,

Americhem has answered the call with this new capacity.” The two new manufacturing
lines are arranged within work-cells to improve process fl ow and eliminate waste while allowing faster product changeover times. In addition to the small-lot
capacity, the Ohio plant has been rearranged and upgrad- ed. Its re-crystalliser has been relocated and fi tted with new materials handling capabilities and bar coding has been instituted in the compounding area to improve quality and inventory control.
