NPE 2015 Polymers and compounds

AGC FluoroCompounds is showing melt processable fluoropolymer compounds

DSM is highlighting the use of its engineering plastics in a range of focused applications. For example, its Akulon PA 6 and Arnitel thermoplastic copolyester bring benefits to flexible packaging, and the company has recently developed Akulon XS grades which offer an extended processing window for blown film applica- tions. For the electronics sector, DSM is showing its Stanyl

applications

AGC Chemicals Americas is showing its Fluon family of melt-processable fluoropolymer compounds, which are based on FEP, ETFE, PFA, PVDF, MFA or ECTFE copolymer resins. Developed by the AGC FluoroCom- pounds division, the materials are suitable for the production of demanding parts for the automotive, industrial, aerospace, transit and appliance industries due to their combination of physical toughness and high resistance to heat and chemicals. The range includes eight different compound types. The company is also showing filled PTFE compounds and PTFE micropowders. ❙ www.agcchem.com

Aurora Plastics, a leading producer of rigid and foam PVC compounds, is highlighting its weather- resistant PVC/acrylic alloy capstock for demanding applications such as outdoor trim, windows, decks, siding, fencing, and railing. The new product is designed to withstand the effects of weathering over the long term, even in dark colours. The company is also promoting its new low-density

cellular PVC foam which is available in the 0.35 - 0.80 density range. The end result is a very lightweight, yet durable material that is ideal for an array of interior decorative applications. ❙ www.auroraplastics.com

Barnet is introducing its new Envir recycled compounds at NPE this month. The range includes PA 6 and PA6,6 recycled compounds in a variety of grades including glass-rein- forced, impact-modified, lubricated, toughened, mineral- filled and coloured compounds. The company is also offering Envir recycled PP and PET materials, plus it is launching Zeplin PA/carbon resins at the show. ❙ www.barnet.com

The company is also showing four new additions to its 8000 Series TPEs. 8150 is a black 48 Shore A TPE with rubber-like properties and a matt surface finish targeted at automotive applications. 8078B is a black 82 Shore A TPE suitable for applications calling for good UV stability. 8088N is a black 88 Shore A TPE that passes the FMVSS302 automotive specification for flammability. 8088BL is a colourable 88 Shore A grade that is FDA compliant and UV stable and targets applications

requiring high impact resistance and a reduced coefficient of friction.

and Stanyl ForTii grades for high-performance DDR4 memory connectors, while for automotive markets the focus is on new Diablo high-temperature polyamides for applications in the engine compartment. www.dsm.com

Elastocon TPE Technologies is showing five of its latest TPE materials, including the CLR Series clear grades, which are claimed to provide high tensile and tear strength properties together with a tactile finish. CLR Series TPEs are FDA-compliant and can be over-moulded onto polypropylene and a variety of other polymers, making them suitable for medical applica- tions and toys.
