to make the surface of the material hostile to bacteria. Parx says that it equips the material with an “immune system” against bacteria that does not leach away. Wim Derksen, general maager of Aviplast WFC/
Deltawood, said: “We have been an innovator in the market providing this semi-permanent hospital concept, but now we are taking a big lead with this permanent and safe antimicrobial technology.” The material and technology were demonstrated at
this year’s Medtec Europe exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany.
Chinese expertise Extrusion machinery manufacturer Sky Win Technology, based in Nanjing, has developed an extrusion line for making wood-plastic composite (WPC) panels. The company says it was one of the first to concen-
trate on WPC extrusion lines in China, which also includes the necessary ancillaries such as granulators, upstream and downstream equipment and tooling. It says it is now the only company focused on WPC extrusion machinery in China. Its WPC machines are sold all across China – with
more than 500 customers – as well as further afield: it boasts customers in countries including Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Saudia Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. The company carries out a number of research

Fiber Composites, based in
New London, North Carolina, has worked with machinery supplier Entek since 1999 to source the twin-screw extruder and auxiliary equipment it needs to produce its Fiberon- branded WPC decking and railing products. “We have partnered with Entek from the beginning
because they are committed to helping us succeed,” said Doug Mancosh, president of Fiber Composites. “From our initial machinery orders in 1998, we have added numerous additional Entek lines.” He said Entek had also provided controls for material handling equipment, as well as designing and installing auxiliary equipment for its production lines. Kirk Hanawalt, Entek president, added: “It was clear
from the beginning that Fiber Composites had the vision to be a leader in the WPC market. They always had a focus on high quality, and have stayed at the forefront of the market by regularly launching refinements to existing products, and entirely new products.”
