MBA Polymers is claiming a world first with the start-up of a commercial line for produc- tion of PC/ABS polymers recovered from shredded waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The line is located at the
company’s facility at Kematen
in Austria and commenced production of the recycled PC/ ABS polymers, which will be marketed under the EvoSource name, in April. The company said it plans
to steadily build capacity for the materials during the remainder of this year.

for our engineering plastics business. The decision to develop PC/ABS products reflects our determination to meet the growing demand from customers for post-con- sumer recycled plastic as well as extending our commitment
to sustainable growth,” said Richard McCombs, Chief Executive of MBA Polymers. EvoSourcePC/ABS grades
are said to offer excellent mechanical properties and are suitable for a broad range of applications. ❙

Tsubaki cuts friction with DSM A timing chain
slide produced in DSM’s Stanyl 46
Tsubakimoto UK, a subsidiary of Japan’s Tsubaki Group, is using a new special lubricated grade of Stanyl PA46 in slide shoes for petrol engine timing chain systems. The parts are being produced by Quadrant Creative Molding & Systems (QCMS) at Tielt in Belgium.
DSM worked closely with Tsubakimoto and QCMS to ensure that the Stanyl TW371 grade met all performance and manufacturing criteria. Tests showed a 20% reduction in friction compared to the previously used TW341 grade. ❙
