When deciding which products to stock, Liam thinks his colleagues are the best indicator of what is and isn’t selling. The company also monitors which products are the most popular, both online and in-store. According to Liam, hard floors are the most popular at the moment, with


engineered wood flooring, and luxury vinyl tiles, like Amtico and Karndean, being best sellers.


Liam also keeps up with trends via social media.


“I think the rate that trends are changing is increasing due to social media platforms like Pinterest and Facebook. I think it is vital for companies to look at similar platforms on a regular basis to see what people are liking and sharing with their friends,” said Liam.


With a team of around 25 members, Best at Flooring’s employees are trained in every aspect of flooring, with a variety of different specialisms within the team. Rather than having lots of universal fitters, the company prefers its fitters to stick to a specific type of flooring, creating the best end result for the customer. It provides specialist training to its fitters in their fields’ of fitting.


The company has also just hired its first apprentice.


Speaking of the new appointment, Liam said: “We feel this offers us an amazing opportunity to support young people but hopefully retain the knowledge gained when moving into full- time employment.”


A major focus of the business is to give the highest standard of customer service possible. This is why it has a customer service team dedicated to ensuring that all communication runs smoothly, regardless of whether it is online, by email or on the telephone.


“We have a product to suit everyone, and focus on being able to provide an excellent service to all of our customers.


“Often our best prices aren’t listed on our website, so we always encourage customers to call one of our experts to ensure that they get the best value for money.


“Our focus as a company is to provide the best prices all year round. However, we do receive promotions on a monthly basis through different manufactures, which we pass on to our customers,” continued Liam.

How do you plan to advertise? We find the best form of advertising is


word of mouth, and we have relied on this heavily since 1962.

Who is selling best at the moment? The two brands that are selling best at


the moment are Kahrs engineered Wood and Amtico Luxury Vinyl Flooring.


What colours and textures are popular now?


The two most popular styles are polar opposites, one is a Scandinavian influence design, which is clean, and light, with a splash of colour, while the other is a more rustic, traditional warm design.

What are your predictions for next season?


Monochrome designs seem to be the next must have, especially when accompanied by an accessory such as a Louis de Poortere rug.


What social media do you use and how important is it for your


business? We focus on Facebook and Pinterest. We feel that it is essential we are able to stay up to date with our customers, and to utilise Facebook advertising to target the most appropriate new customers.


What is the cornerstone to Best at Flooring’s success?


Maintaining a personal touch with our customers, regardless of whether they are shopping in-store or online.
