THE FLOORING SHOW & TILING SHOW GUIDE 2016

The grand final will take place over the first two days of The Flooring Show, on 18th and 19th September at the HIC.

Speaking about bringing the competition back, NICF President Ian James said: “I always said that, if I were ever NICF President, I would make it my mission to bring the competition back. After all, there isn't a fitter in the land that wouldn't want ‘UK Fitter of the Year’ on his van.”

The competitors entered the competition by registering online and completing a questionnaire. Out of those who entered, 12 progressed forward to the next stage- the practical skills trial at the FITA Training Centre in Loughborough on 26th and 27th May. Six finalists will now progress to take part in the grand final.

The Carpet Fitter of the Year Competition provides a platform for tradespeople to demonstrate their experience, skills, knowledge and competency of their profession; allows for a bit of healthy competition and offers the chance to win some fantastic prizes, including £1000 cash, a selection of tools, winner’s trophy, one year’s free NICF Master Fitter membership and an iPad that has kindly been donated by Which? Trusted Traders.

The Wool Trends Centre

The Campaign for Wool and British Wool will install an exciting, colourful, fun, design-led installation in the centre of the Wool Trends area, which is the hub for www.woolretailer.com. The site provides all wool retailers with free sign- up to the industry’s latest educational and interactive online promotion.

The Trends Hub

Scarlet Opus will be working with The Flooring Show and The Tiling Show to curate the Trends Hub for the fifth consecutive year, bringing together an imaginative area showing future trends, colour themes and new innovative products. This is a space for both exhibitors and visitors to get inspired and motivated.

This year, the Trends Hub will be home to the Window Merchandising Workshop, where groups of five or six retailers will be given a design trend for SS2017 and have it explained to them. It will also provide hints and tips on window merchandising for flooring, tiling and interiors shops.

Using a host of props supplied by Scarlet Opus, each group will work with a Trend Forecaster to merchandise their window. With all the windows being created on King Street and the displays changing daily, there will be plenty of opportunity for all visitors and participants to see the results of the workshop and take away some inspiration.
