month we speak to Lee Price, Sales Director at CFS, independent provider of fire and security systems.
a simpler and more transparent approach. Some of the performance and commercial models used in the sector have become too complex. As a result we are in danger of losing sight of what is important in terms of quality and delivery. A good first step would be to get rid of reverse e-auctions and increase competitive dialogue.
Q1 Q2
Q3 admire?
It has to be Sir Alex Ferguson who is an inspirational leader that sustained a position at the top of his industry for an unbelievable period of time, and continued to win.
Q4 Q5
If money was no object, what car would you buy?
It would be an original Shelby Cobra.
How would you improve the Facilities
Management industry? I think we need to look at having

What was your first job? I started my career as
an electrician.

Q8
What did you want to be when you were
growing up? An architect.
What do you do to unwind?
Sport helps me to unwind; I play golf, cycle and I love snow boarding. That said spending time with my family really helps me to relax and if you want to keep me quiet, give me a jigsaw!
If you could host a dinner party with any
three guests, dead or alive, with a fourth cooking and a fifth providing the music, who would they be and why?
My first choice would be my grandad, he sadly passed away. I would love to have the chance to ask him some questions as well as let him know I have done okay!
I’d also invite Ayrton Senna who was a genius on the track and could give everyone a lift home; and David Beckham who has amazing talent and when I met him seemed to be a complete gentlemen. Cooking I would ask Jamie Oliver, anyone who can make a great meal in just 15 minutes is my kind of cook. For the music, Gary Barlow, he seems like an all- round good guy.
Q10
Paul Bates, Managing Director of pest control
specialists, Cleankill asked: Is there anybody famous that has influenced you in your FM career?
Alex Ferguson because his sheer determination, professionalism, honesty and a winning passion saw him operate at the top of his game.
He also instilled faith and belief in his team regardless of age or experience, which is essential to success.

What do you think is the future of the
Facilities Management industry?
I think we are at the tipping point where we have, in some cases, compromised resilience for cost in the technical space. There has been a dilution of key skills in favour of general experience. I believe we must protect specialist competencies and invest in tomorrow’s experts both through apprenticeships at grass roots and also through training. During challenging financial periods the investment in these areas is often removed and the identification of skilled resources continues to be an industry wide problem.
