Hello and welcome to the January issue of Tomorrow’s FM. It is the first of the New Year and whilst many of you will be starting out with dieting and exercise on the brain, we are looking ahead to some of the forecasted trends and comment on what to expect in the world of Facilities Management in 2016.
With much afoot in the field of the NHS; junior doctors’ strikes and budget cuts we take a look at Healthcare and Hospital Facilities to see what changes are taking place for FMs in the industry. The section includes a temporary orthopaedic ward constructed by Portakabin and comment on hygiene by cleaning specialists, Jigsaw.
We also look at the ever-popular world of HVAC, with a case study from Remeha boilers, who have been working with Durham Cathedral to revamp their monastic rooms and improve the exhibition route. And, hit the racing lanes with Mecedes AMG Petronas who have enlisted ebm-papst to keep their cars cool in the pit lanes.
Elsewhere we look at Flooring, with Finnish company MariCare, who have designed an innovative flooring system for care facilities that notes the movements of residents, and gives accurate information about the regularity of their bathroom breaks. It can also provide life-saving fall monitoring, by acknowledging changes in footfall and activity.
