WHAT 25 YEARS IN ROCK & ROLL HAS TAUGHT US
Stage barriers are the unsung hero of live events, throughout the world they are a familiar sight at festivals and have become an integral part in ensuring crowd and artist safety, but this hasn’t always been the case. Managing director Cees Muurling explains what 25 years in rock and roll has taught Mojo Barriers.
Established in 1988 as an offshoot of Netherlands-based promoters Mojo Concerts, Mojo Barriers was the first company to develop a specially- designed stage barricade system. The term ‘Mojo Barriers’ has since become synonymous with crowd safety barriers and is used on many of the biggest tours and festival sites throughout the world.
Mojo Barriers has kept crowds safe at festivals, tours and events all over the globe, including TomorrowWorld, Lollapalooza, Big Day Out, Metallica and Beyonce, as well as being integrated into existing stadium facilities. This year has seen the

Mojo team tour with The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Usher, AC/DC and country music legend Kenny Chesney, and has provided barriers to a number of festivals and live events.
Over the years, Mojo Barriers has seen a shift in attitudes with organisers placing greater importance on the use of crowd barriers and we’ve witnessed firsthand the humble stage barriers’ rise to fame.
As management teams have begun paying greater attention to health and safety standards, product development has been key to our growth. The Mojo Barrier was
originally designed for Mojo’s own concerts, but once people began seeing it in action the orders came in and within two years, we were on many global tours. Since then however, the market has expanded and there is now a lot more competition and The Mojo Barrier has been copied all over the world. That simple barrier now has a variety of different products throughout our range, including Line-Up Gates, The Gatekeeper, Mega Exits, and High Fencing.
