COVER STORY

Safe Air Care

Oxy-Gen Powered offers advice for hospitals, nursing homes and healthcare institutions navigating the minefield of air care solutions, in a bid to find a product that removes odours without affecting the wellbeing of patients and staff.

There are a range of air fresheners available in the market, from aerosols to gels, many of which are potential health hazards. Over 80% of air fresheners used in commercial or institutional premises are aerosols, which contain mostly gas, solvents or acetones and use propellants that can cause allergic reactions and respiratory difficulties.

Oxy-Gen Powered Air Freshness systems, manufactured by Fragrance Delivery Technologies Ltd, is a safe and effective solution to eliminate malodours and deliver a fresh scent continuously for 60 days.

Fragrant Wellbeing The patented Oxy-Gen Powered technology ensures that pure fragrance oil is delivered continuously, without any added volatile organic compounds (VOCs), solvents, propellants or other harmful emissions that are harmful to the ozone layer and human at elevated concentrations. It reduces the amount of VOCs being emitted by up to 90% when compared to aerosol cans. This means that

hospitals and healthcare providers can ensure a pleasant smelling environment, without worrying about any harmful side effects.

Hydros Jassem, CEO, Fragrance Delivery Technologies Ltd says, “While developing the Oxy-Gen Powered system, our top priority was the safety and health of people using the facilities as well as that of the service personnel. The technology addresses major ecological concerns like compounds that are harmful to the ozone like propellants, high levels of VOCs, presence of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and battery disposal.”

The Oxy-Gen Powered VIVA!e system is the only air freshener in the world that is Carbon Footprint approved. In an independent process, it has been assessed and verified for emissions and energy consumption and was found to have a significantly lower footprint compared to aerosol products in the market.

Oxy-Gen Powered systems work with 2 x AA Alkaline batteries that last for two years, while in traditional aerosol systems the hassle of changing and

disposing of batteries needs to be endured much more frequently.

Continuous and effective

odour elimination It has been a widely accepted practice to mask pungent smells with heavily scented cleaning products and aerosol systems. These products rarely eliminate malodours and usually contribute in making the environment even more unbearable. The Oxy-Gen Powered cartridges contain Neutra-lox, a proprietary malodour eliminator, which eradicates bad smells and is highly effective against urine, faecal, tobacco, kitchen, body odour, mildew and pet malodours.

Hydros adds: “With traditional aerosol spray products, the spray is released at timed intervals and the fragrance, though initially unbearably strong, does not linger long enough to last between each spray. Unlike the aerosols, our systems do not have a ‘spray and fade’ effect and there is no change in the fragrance if the room gets warmer, cooler or more humid.”
