iListenWI
Hip movement is important to the Samba! And the steps should be performed quickly once the coordination is in place. Need more practice? Come to the iListen session in Madison! Details about the session fol- low in the last section of this article.
New and Improved
In our continuing quest for clarity and ease-of-use for teachers we have made some modifications in our digital delivery of this material. If you are not familiar with what we offer, a complete plan for one of the pieces is available at
wmeamusic.org. The iListenWI committee is now format- ting the lesson plans uniformly in order for teachers to quickly find desired com- ponents of the pieces. There is also more economy where page links are concerned. And there are resource pages of informa- tion such as characteristics of each style period, giving references “at-a-glance.” We hope that these changes will make navigating efficient and will provide busy
teachers with helpful resource material with which to seamlessly weave listening into their programs.
Listening – WisconsinStrong
We invite you to explore the possibilities of iListenWI for your music program. Join us in Madison for the Wisconsin State Music Conference as we present our session, “Making Your Program Stronger With Listening,” Thursday, October 27, at 8:35 a.m., Room J. Some lucky attendee will win access to the digital binder and all listening lessons for the school year... that person could be you!
As music teachers we constantly work to bring the best practices to our teaching. Good listening skills serve us for life. The iListenWI committee (Aimee Swanson, Julie Ropers-Rosendahl, Matt Lamb, Darin Menk, Carolyn Atwell), my co-chair Sharon Gilbert and I invite you to explore the materials we have prepared to partner

Some time ago, a popular advertising cam- paign declared “cotton” to be the “fabric of our lives.” Let’s continue to strengthen our teaching with strategies that include active listening in order to make the strong fabric of our lives “music... music... music!”
