WSMA News x Field Representative Update

Established in 1994, this program enables retired music educators to share their time, knowledge and experience in support of Wisconsin Center for Music Education activities. Through this partnership, the retired music educators continue to serve and stay connected with their music edu- cation profession. They are an integral part of the services available to member schools, students and teachers.

Field representatives provide vital support in a variety of ways by assisting with projects includ- ing High School and Middle Level State Honors Project auditions, State Marching Band Cham- pionships, Wisconsin State Music Conference and volunteer opportunities and other WSMA, WMEA and WFSM activities.

The field representatives meet once a year in September at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education and discover opportunities to renew friendships and volunteer for activities.

It is always a lively and focused discussion of events since the last meeting with the possibil- ity of new proposals to be considered for the future.

The field reps provide support for the following:

• State Marching Band Championships at UW-Whitewater – Ticket Sales

• Wisconsin State Music Conference:

° Exemplary Soloist Recital, Registration, WSMA Booth, WSMA Honors Jazz Ensemble Tickets and Programs

° Middle Level State Honors Concerts at Waunakee High School

• Initial adjudicator scheduling of WSMA Music Festivals

• Wisconsin Center for Music Education ° Cleaning/weeding the flower beds • WMEA Capitol Concerts

• WSMA Middle and High School State Honors Project Audition Sites

• WSMA Festival Music List: Selection Committee / Final Review Committee.

x Festival Manager Information

CESA 7 and CESA 10 offices partnered with WSMA to offer an educational environment to host the festival manager workshops. Four festival manager workshops were held this fall in Chippewa Falls, Green Bay and (two in) Waunakee. Almost 75 festival managers attended one of the offered work- shops. Festival Management Committee member Ryan Petersen assisted in the presentations given in Waunakee.

Important festival manager materials are available online through Festival Manager Resources in MyCenter. The festival manager computer programs have been updated along with the video tutorials. Example letters, publicity materials and festival manager workshop presentations are also available.
