What are the different jobs and opportunities in today’s music publishing field? How do I get started? What’s the lifestyle like? What’s the money like?

In addition, the students will learn how to set up their own publishing company, gain an understanding of copyrights and the role of performance rights organizations. Students will learn how to generate revenue by placing their music in TV film and advertising.

April 22 – Artist/Singer/ Musician

The artist session utilizes the new definition of making it – takes strategies introduced in the marketing sessions and applies it to building an artist career from top to bottom.

May 13 – Songwriter/Composer

There are two things a songwriter/composer can do: 1) make music, and 2) sell music. The songwriter session immerses the student in both and exposes them to the craft and busi- ness of songwriting. The course also introduces the student to the worlds of jingle writing and film scoring.
