Suggestions for Music Educators:
• Teachers who work with the youngest voices need a thorough knowledge base of both physi- ological and functional vocal development and the applications of that knowledge for efficient speaking and singing abilities.
• We CAN educate the parents and public that children should sound like children, NOT adults. A child’s voice must be allowed to sound like a child’s voice until the larynx grows and drops, and until the vocal folds are fully developed.
• We need to rethink the songs that we choose for our young children to sing at concerts to make sure they are physically and
