My role as Area Manager for deVere is to ensure that all UK Expats living here in Spain are informed and kept up to date with changes that could affect your Financial Wealth. With the recent snap election, we’ve seen that events can be fast moving so knowing where you stand financially is more and more important. With that in mind, here are 3 quick spring cleaning tips.
1. Understand what you’ve left behind in the UK
With interest rates at an all time low, pension transfer values are relatively high. There has been no better time to review and act upon your pension arrangements. Don’t wait for interest rates to go up and be disappointed, act now and get the most personal benefit from your pension.
2. Optimise the return on your liquidity
Sounds a bit of a mouthful but it comes down to the fact that so many people have lump sums of money just sitting in a current account. Quick access to cash is understandable but there are other ways than simply watching the value of your cash dwindle. The interest you get is always less than inflation so your cash is worth less and less. Everyone is different, we understand that, and that’s why we’re happy to find the best solution for you, balancing your needs for liquidity, risk, security and rewards.
3. Check your inheritance tax situation
Again, this changes from time to time and you may find that a simple review can help your loved ones avoid nasty surprises. Everyone wants their inheritance to go to the people they want it to go to – not on tax. Again, there are a number of ways to maximise inheritance and minimise tax, but you need to make the effort to find out.
