The Global Goals
Dunblane Primary School
by Murray and Sameeha, P6 In P6 we have been learning about Global Goals. In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030. Our government have a plan to save our planet…it’s our job to make sure they stick to it. There are 17 Goals we would like to achieve. As part of our homework we have taught someone at home about Global Goals. We asked them to choose two that they thought were the most important. Here are some that our class and parents thought were most important: Goal 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation Goal 2 - Zero Hunger Goal 1 - No Poverty Goal 5 - Gender Equality There are way more if you would like to know more about them go to
www.globalgoals.org
We have been learning about Goal 6 through a Global storyline approach using drama. To help us empathise with people around the world we have created characters and a community using our drama and art skills. We have been researching the importance of water and the effect Mega Dams can have on communities. We found out that some Dams can cause flooding and people have to give up their homes, and actually contribute to climate Change. We only have one world and it is our job to look after it. Will you help us?
Dunblane Museum Trip by Katherine and Tessa, P3
At the beginning of March, Primary 2/3 and Primary 3 visited Dunblane Museum. They were very excited to learn more about Dunblane in the past. It was a great success and everyone enjoyed it a lot. They learned how a “swee” worked and practised turning the handle. We looked at some pictures of Dunblane in the past. The staff were very friendly and opened the museum early. It had a lot of interesting artefacts. We looked at some paintings of the Cathedral. We were respectful and listened to them well and it helped us with our learning. We enjoyed learning about Dunblane in the past at the Museum.
