brings in clinicians from around the country to present three days of informative hands-on sessions at their annual January conference. Make plans in advance to attend the 80th Annual MMEA In-Service Workshop/ Conference next January 24-27, 2018.

All of us want to be the best music educators possible. Although we are surrounded by standardized tests and common curricula, being innovative in order to engage 21st century learners is a necessity. Teachers must adopt a lifelong learning mindset to continually push themselves to learn new ways of facilitating learning and increasing student engagement. (Edudemic Staff, 2015, p.2)

I will close with one more memory of the conference. Please think back to the session with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser. If you didn’t get to go to that you truly missed out. Dr. Tim once again reminded us of why what we do is so important. He reminded us that our students don’t remember what pieces they play for evaluation, what rating they received, or what trophy they earned. They remember US. They remember the passion we share with them and how we made them feel. May we always be worthy of their faith in us.
