New homes for Chapel-en-le-Frith
Construction is under way on The Coppice, a £12m development set to bring 47 new homes to the town of Chapel-en-le-Frith on the edge of the Peak District. Partnership housing specialist Lovell is developing the site, off Manchester Road, with 33 brand-new homes for sale as well as 14 homes for Peaks & Plains Housing Trust which will be available for rent and shared ownership. The overall scheme is set to be complete in autumn 2018. Robert Adams, Regional Managing Director for Lovell, said: “This development of well-designed homes in a superb location will provide contemporary, stylish accommodation for a range of homeseekers, including single people, couples and families. “As well as properties for
sale, there will be homes for shared ownership and rent providing urgently-needed affordable homes for people with local connections, enabling them to get their own home in this vibrant community.”
Work starts on £400m resort in Peak District
Machines have rolled on site to begin work on a new type of UK resort destination integrating leisure, health, sport and education that will operate 365 days a year. Peak Resort is being built on the
Birchall Estate, a 300-acre site, at Unstone, Chesterfield, and will create 1,300 jobs. The first phase is underway
thanks to a £2.8m Sheffield City Region Infrastructure Fund grant which will see: • New signalled roundabout access directly connecting the site with the A61 Dronfield bypass
• New multi-user bridleways created to link the resort with cycling, horse riding and walking routes in the Peak District National Park, Chesterfield, Sheffield and the countryside in between
• Site fencing and security
The Peak Resort ‘Gateway to the great outdoors’ has detailed
planning permission to be realised in three phases. Once complete, the resort will be
one of the UK’s flagship tourist and educational destinations outside London.
