Exhibition breaks all visitor records

Figures have been announced for QUAD’s most recent exhibition, What a Loving, and Beautiful World by Japanese collective teamLab. With 19,287 visitors the exhibition has broken all previous visitor records for the venue. The visitors to What a Loving, and Beautiful World have overtaken

QUAD’s best exhibitions Pride and the Passion: Contemporary Art, Football and the Derby County Collection and V.02, a collection of interactive digital artwork. QUAD, a cinema, gallery, café bar and workshop situated in Derby’s

Cathedral Quarter, provides facilities and services that connect people and businesses to art and film, creating opportunities for entertainment, education and participation. What a Loving, and Beautiful World is an installation of projected

computer generated artworks featuring 22 Sino-Japanese nature- inspired characters, including sun, moon, water, trees and birds, by the

calligrapher Shishū. As the characters cascade down from ceiling to floor they can be activated either by human touch or shadows, transforming the images into new motifs associated with their meanings. The artwork was created by teamLab, a Japanese interdisciplinary

creative collective who describe themselves as ‘Ultra-technologists’. They produce large-scale immersive installations that utilise the latest computer modelling techniques to create stunning interactive visual art experiences. What a Loving, and Beautiful World, in QUAD was the UK premiere of the exhibition. QUAD CEO Adam Buss said: “This exhibition has brought in so
