Page 6 King's Day

Every year on the 27th of April, Dutch people all over the world celebrate the birthday of the Dutch king.

There is music, markets, Dutch and

international food, drinks and everything to create a great atmosphere and party all around.

As we live here on the Costa Blanca together with people of all nationalities, it's nice to celebrate the king's day not just with Dutch people but also with all our international friends. That's why everybody is invited to come and party at the square opposite Manolos restaurante on the lemon tree road (road from Guardamar towards Los Montesinos) on the 27th of April from 10 am until........ There will be a market with all sorts of products, like fish, Dutch cheeses, cakes, satay, Indonesian products, snacks, barbecue and much more. Also there will be a big car boot/ table top sale. There will also be a large bar with all sorts of refreshments and coffee.

During the day there will be many artists performing on the big stage and there is plenty of space to dance. There are a few spaces left as well on the trades market (no food) and free spaces at the car boot (no traders, only second hand goods). For more information or if you wish to have a space on one of the markets, please send an email to dutchkingsday@hotmail.com. We hope to welcome you to enjoy the party!

Thank you for the music

Music lovers were out in full force to support Crescendo International Choir for their concert at Torrevieja Christian Fellowship hall recently when they sang to raise money for the Ugandan charity “Music to save lives”. The concert was arranged by choir member Mary Priddle when she learned about this charity which is run by Elisabeth Michot, helping children in an orphanage to learn social skills and self respect through song and dance. After a medley of ‘swing’ songs by the choir, Elisabeth gave a short presentation with colour slides showing many ‘before and after’ pictures of the children. Several have now gained university degrees and others have jobs in the medical profession and law. This is a country where money can be made to stretch a long way so every cent of the 1,500€ raised from tickets, buckets and raffle will be put to good use. We look forward to hearing more about these talented youngsters so check our website www.crescendo-choir.com for news.
