ÛANIS LIPKE MEMORIAL MUSEUM 8 Mazais Balasta dambis, 12.00–18.00. Closed Mon, Sun. www.lipke.lv During WWII, in the yard at the end of this tiny street, an underground bunker was dug out. This is where Žanis Lipke had made a hiding place for people saved from the Jewish ghetto. 8-12 people used this 3x3 meter hole in the ground as a shelter, often for long periods of time. The German police never found it and Lipke was never caught. EXHIBITIONS Until 31.05 ‘Contraband in Riga’.
