• Sunday 12th March, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera: American Jim Manganello has joined Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists programme as a director. He will talk about his role assisting Matthew Lenton on the double bill of Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and The 8th Door, a new opera Lenton has co- created with Scottish Opera Composer in Residence Lliam Paterson. All very welcome. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Entrance £5, free to students, including tea/coffee & biscuits.

• Sunday 19th March: The Arts Guild is delighted to welcome pianist Joseph Long. As previous audiences know, he is a brilliant pianist and wonderful communicator. His recital will start at 3pm in the Cathedral and include pieces by Chopin, Stevenson and Bartok. • Monday 20th March, Dunblane Cathedral Guild, 2pm in Cathedral Hall a speaker from Christian Aid is coming to tell us more about their Bolivia Project. All welcome to come along and find out more.
• Wednesday 22nd March, Scottish Women’s Institute, meet for a talk from Guide Dogs for the Blind. 7.30pm in the Victoria Hall. Everyone Welcome, £3.50 for visitor entry.

Saturday 25th March, The 4th/85th Dunblane Scout Group are having their Annual Coffee morning from 10am-12noon at the Cathedral Halls. Entrance £2.50 per adult, children free, includes Tea, Coffee or Juice, and scone, pancake or biscuit. Various stalls including Cake and Candy stall, Guess the Weight of the Cake, Children’s activities, 2nd hand Book Stall, Bulb Stall and Bacon Rolls. All welcome.
• Sunday 26th March, Rosenethe Singers: Their first performance under their new director, Kevin Duggan and accompanied by the Scottish Bach Players, will perform J S Bach’s ‘St John Passion’ at 7.30 pm on Sunday 26 March 2017 in Dunblane Cathedral. An impressive line-up of soloists has been engaged for the concert - Andrew Dickinson, ‘Evangelist’/tenor, Ursula Bambuch, soprano, Cheryl Forbes, contralto, Simon Oberst, ‘Pilate’/bass and Stewart Kempster, ‘Jesus’/bass. Tickets for what is sure to be a popular concert - £15 (£12 concessions) - may be obtained from Smallprint, Dunblane, Strathallan Pharmacy, Bridge of Allan or any choir member. • Monday 27th March, Dunblane Cathedral Guild. Drop-In for a variety of activities to enjoy company and fellowship. 2pm in the Ritchie Room, Cathedral Halls
• Monday 3rd April, Dunblane Cathedral Guild. 2pm we are holding an afternoon tea, weather permitting it will be held in the manse garden, an opportunity for the ladies to look out a hat to wear from a prior wedding, to arrive in style! Names to Dorothy Millar 824170.
• Monday 3rd April Dunblane Civic Society’s Spring Walk and Lunch. Members to meet at 09:45 in the main car park of the Royal Hotel, Comrie (please note that there are 3 car parks at the hotel). The main walk through lovely Glen Lednock then climbing to the Melville Monument (900 ft.) takes approx. 2.5 hours. The shorter walk (without the climb to the Monument) takes under 2 hours. Could members who are going for lunch only, please arrive at the Royal Hotel for 12:15 approx. If any member requires transport, please contact Tom, tel. 822400.

• Sunday 9th April, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera: Gordon Grant, Scottish Opera’s Music Librarian and Supertitle Operator. For our final talk of the 2016-17 season we hear from Gordon Grant, the holder of two important behind the scenes positions. Gordon started working in Scottish Opera’s library in 2004, before studying for a music degree, so he and the job obviously suit each other. All very welcome. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, £5, free to students, including tea/coffee & biscuits.

• Monday 10 April Dunblane Civic Society meets at 7:30pm in the Braeport Centre. Dr Neil Clark, Curator of the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow will talk on “Moving the Hunterian Collections to the Kelvin Hall”. A warm welcome is extended to all who would like to come along and join us. Visitors’ admission is £2.
